WHAT’s happening in Ukraine
The war in Ukraine had devastated impact on most of the nation’s population, as lives, homes and infrastructure has been destroyed. The United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) estimates that millions of Ukrainians are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
The escalating crisis has disrupted essential services for countless families and children. Buildings and schools, power stations, food and water supplies, hospitals and universities have been damaged or destroyed. As a result, medical supplies are running low, and it is estimated that ~18 million people are in need and over 5 million are displaced.
Children and families have been displaced. Often taking shelter in subways, makeshift bunkers or outside in the open air. Displaced families urgently need essential supplies and protection due to the fastest large-scale displacement of children since World War II. As well as the millions of children impacted by the conflict, many pregnant women and new mothers also require urgent life-saving access to medication and other support.
The war in Ukraine continues to rage on and unfortunately shows no sign of slowing in the months ahead. Families are being ripped apart, civilians are being killed in the streets while their homes and communities are destroyed. We need to act now.
MISSION STATEMENT
The United Ukraine Appeal provides an effective way for people and businesses in Australia and abroad to donate to a registered not-for-profit organisation dedicated to delivering vital support to the people of Ukraine as urgently as the situation demands. With minimal administration costs (that are fully funded by the founders) 100% of donations reach Ukrainians in need.
Donations are used to help the people of Ukraine that are suffering as a result of the war, through the provision of humanitarian and medical aid, non-violent defence, emergency housing, as well as rehabilitation and veteran aid programs. We have delivered food, medication, ambulances, transport, safe shelter, phycological support and much more to those impacted by the war.
