As part of our Food Project, UUA places an order for 1,500 packaged ready-made meals each and every day. The meals are manufactured by the Premium Services company. This company came into existence in 2021, only a year before the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, with the aim of making gourmet style meals available in a ready-made forms.

Since the 24 February 2022, the company had to rapidly shift its profile and hence its menu. Today, its focus is the manufacturing a range of nutritious meals (including vegetarian) to be distributed to the areas of need, and especially to the refugees and civilians living near the front lines.

What makes the ready made meals from Premium Services so popular is that the meals are sterilized and packaged into CPET containers. This process ensures that the meals can last up to 6 months in temperatures of up to +20C. The containers are extremely durable, and can be used to heat up the meals as well. In peace time, these meals were most often heated up in an oven or a microwave. However, in the war zone, the locals have found other ways to prepare them – by placing the containers into boiling water, a fire, or even by placing them next to the engine!

The orders from UUA help to support a company and its staff, including 22 kitchen workers, 2 engineers, a cleaner, a driver and admin staff. This means during the war, people have a chance to work, to earn a living, and at the same time contribute to the humanitarian efforts in Ukraine – all thanks to your generous contributions.
